The great white shark is endangered and highly misunderstood. It is considered an apex predator. The great white shark is also known as the “ white shark”, “ white pointer” or just “ great white shark”. It is a species of large mackerel shark which can be found in large coastal surface waters of all major oceans. The genus Carcharodon is the only surviving species of the genus.
The mass of the mature female is about 1,500 to 2,400 lbs. speed is about 35 mph ( maximum in bursts). The length is ruffle 15-16 ft females and males anywhere from 11-13 ft. The maximum size is 20 ft long. Thier diet consists of sea turtles, seals, sea lions, porpoises, dolphins and small whales. They are opportunistic scavengers and will feed on carcasses of whales and basking sharks.
They are afraid of orcas , better known as “ killer whales”. Sharks have very few predators except for the orcas. Orcas are the only natural predator of the sharks.
