The Cardinals is in the group Cardinalinae, consisting of 39 species and genera and is distributed throughout North America. Some notably the "Buntings" ( genus passerina) are very colorful and the males have a much brighter plumage than those of the females. The cardinals (genus Cardinalis) the buntings ( passerine) and the grosbeaks (Pheucticus) diet consists of a mixture of fruit and grains, including insect larvae. The Cardinal is known for its regional song and dialects. The cardinals and grosbeaks are migratory birds and have fascinating various aspects of migration especially using the stars and the earth’s magnetic fields as guides.
