The Florida panther is considered a sub-species of the catamount, puma, or commonly known as the mountain lion. It habituates the swamps of the south as in Florida and the Lower Peninsula. There numbers are low and there are roughly 50 species at best left in the wild. They are long and sleek and have tannish fur with cream to white underbellies. The panther eats small rodents as well as any available food in their chain. They are found in swampy wooded areas and in marshes. They are considered endangered in all of their ranges.
