The bobcat of North America is fairly common throughout its range. The bobcat is smaller than some of its relatives and has a buff color to brown striped coat, tufted ears, longer legs, stouter body with thick pointed side whiskers at the side of each muzzle. Their diet consists of many small rodents, fish and other available food. It is agile and a good hunter. Their dens are large in rocky outcrops, cliffs and forested areas. Due to habitat encroachment and poaching their numbers have declined and they are listed as endangered.
